BNP / NT-proBNP — Heart Failure Marker: Range and Interpretation

BNP (Brain Natriuretic Peptide) and NT-proBNP are markers of heart failure. Released by cardiomyocytes in response to volume and pressure overload. Used for diagnosis and monitoring of CHF.
Reference Range
BNP: < 100 пг/мл; NT-proBNP: < 125 пг/мл (до 75 лет), < 450 пг/мл (>75 лет)
Causes of Elevation
- Chronic heart failure
- Acute coronary syndrome
- Left ventricular hypertrophy
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Tachyarrhythmias
- Renal failure
- Advanced age (physiological elevation)
